Brand identity for Malaysia's leading faith-based language learning app
THE CONTEXT
Think Quran is on a mission to make learning the Quran, easy and fun.
They were building an app to modernize Quranic education.
The idea was strong, but the execution lacked personality.
The interface and experience didn’t reflect the joy, energy, or warmth needed to keep learners engaged.
We stepped in to reimagine the product visually, enhance usability, and create a scalable design system.
THE CHALLENGE
To keep learners excited, the app had to feel warm, friendly, and full of life.
It needed to make the experience of learning the Quran feel inviting, not like a chore.
That meant simplifying the interface and finding moments of delight, making it joyful to navigate.
Identifying key improvement opportunities
THE BIG IDEA
We asked a simple question.
How do you make learning feel less like a task, and more like time well spent?
Our answer was to introduce a mascot to guide the user through their journey.
This gave the app personality and brought in a sense of support, encouragement, and curiosity.
When exploring the mascot, we considered Quranic elements like the camel and the genie.
But, we chose a robot: a playful nod to the app’s modern, tech-driven nature.
To keep the experience connected to its roots, we introduced an 8-point Islamic star, or Khatim , a symbol of deep significance in Islam to the robot's chest piece.
It created a striking contrast with the traditional elements, bridging heritage and the future.
This juxtaposition made the design feel both familiar and forward-looking.
Early explorations for the mascot
THE LOGO
The logo was designed to feel friendly, warm, and rooted in tradition.
The type is based on Islamic strokes, softened with rounded edges for approachability. The Khatim from the robot’s chest became a central element of the logo, creating a seamless link between the mascot and the brand mark.

THE VISUAL LANGUAGE
We upgraded the visual language: colours, type, and illustrations all got a new life.
A vibrant palette, rounded shapes, and playful animations make the experience feel warm and inviting.
At the heart of it all sat our robot mascot.
A friendly constant across screens and interactions: someone you could trust, and grow with.

SCALABLE SYSTEM
We didn’t stop at the visuals.
Key learning flows were reimagined to feel smoother and more intuitive.
We built a flexible component library to keep the experience consistent as the app grew.
From tracking progress to practising lessons, every screen was designed for clarity and a little spark of joy.
